Opportunities for service, study and fellowship
|
|
Those who attend every scheduled service at
our church will spend
only about 4% of their time in church and the other 96%
out in the world. With so much of our time spent outside
of church, our daily walk with Christ is clearly not a
church function.
What a blessing it is to enjoy the company of other
Christians in our daily lives when we can.
The groups listed below offer gratifying activities that
glorify God, serve others, and strengthen faith.
Get involved!

Sisters In Christ
Sisters In Christ is a group of ladies of all ages who
assemble in the Fellowship Hall at 6:00 pm on the first Thursday of each month
for prayer, fellowship and service.
Their primary focus is missions, including prayer for
missionaries in the field. Each month of the year,
the Sisters In Christ take on a different project to
assist a particular missionary effort. Some examples include:
- Annie Armstrong Easter offering for North American missions
- Bottles of Pennies to assist unwed mothers who choose life
- Eliza Broadas offering for Kentucky missions
- Operation Christmas Child - shoeboxes full of gifts
and toys
for needy children at Christmas time.

Precept Bible Study
Precept Bible Study is ideal for those desiring a
fuller, more complete understanding of God's Word. Following
the principles set forth in Isaiah 28:10, Precept focuses on individual
books of the Bible, analyzing them line-by-line. This approach
helps bring the true depth and meaning of scripture to light.
Precept follows a schedule for studying each topic, with a break between
topics. The informal group setting is a comfortable way to increase and
share knowledge, and also offers a wonderful opportunity for fellowship.
To learn more about Precept Bible Study, please contact Marilyn Kinsey.

Mills Manor Outreach
A labor of love for many years now, our weekly outreach to residents
of Mills Manor Nursing Home presents the Gospel and worship
opportunities to beloved brothers and sisters who might otherwise
be overlooked.
Worship services complete with preaching, singing, and an altar call
are held at Mills Manor every Wenesday morning at 10:00 am.
These services are open to visitors, and everyone is invited
to attend and join in the effort to lift the spirits and bring Jesus to
to these wonderful people. At Christmas time we provide gifts for
Mills Manor residents, based on their needs and items on their wish lists.
You don't need an invitation to participate in these efforts, just show up
any Wednesday morning at 10:00. The address is 500 Beck Lane in Mayfield.
If you need directions, the Mills Manor phone number is (270) 247-7890. For more information,
contact Spence Pate or David Edwards.

Center Cuts
Made up of both singles and married couples, Center Cuts is
a fellowship group of "younger" adults. As the name
implies, these are folks who generally fall between youth
and seniors in age, though there is no specific age
requirement.
Center Cuts get together for numerous activities ranging
from road trips to picnics and other informal gatherings.
Their purpose is having fun and Christ-centered fellowship.
It's usually pretty easy to spot a Center Cuts member --
they're always smiling. There is no formal sign-up or
membership list, all you need to do is show up.
For more information about Center Cuts and any upcoming
events, contact Ginger Pate or any Center Cuts member.

Double Nickles
Double Nickels is a group primarily consisting of our
"seasoned" members. Like Center Cuts, there
is no specific age requirement, and both singles and
married couples participate. Rich in real life
experience, Double Nickels love to enjoy Christian
fellowship, recreation and sharing.
From attending UK basketball games to sightseeing trips and
New Year's get-togethers, it seems the Double Nickels
are always up to something. If you try really hard,
you might even get some of them to tell you a little about
their grandchildren.
For more information about Double Nickels, see Eddie
Robertson or any Double Nickels member.
